TripAdvisor is a website where travelers can leave reviews of places they have visited, restaurants, hotels, holiday homes etc. Anyone can sign up to leave a review and TripAdvisor reviews are anonymous (almost everyone uses a pseudonym).
Sometimes owners and management object to reviews that are posted about them. In these circumstances TripAdvisor invites them to leave a management response, which can take several days to appear. TripAdvisor also says they will investigate contested reviews. No-one outside TripAdvisor knows how an investigation is conducted or how they come to a decision, as details are kept secret from the owner/manager.
The investigation of a contested review can take 2 weeks to complete from the time the owner notices a review and raises an objection. In the meantime the contested review remains on view on TripAdvisor.

What should TripAdvisor do with a review while investigating an objection that the reviewer never stayed there/the review is untrue/is competitor spam/etc.?
Please give the answer that best fits your own opinion.
What should TripAdvisor do with a review once the investigation is complete?
After looking at the technical evidence and the management response, and in the context of other reviews, a reasonable person might be able to decide that on balance the review is probably all true or all false; in that case I would expect that there’s no problem – presumably the review simply stands or it is deleted by TripAdvisor.
However, sometimes it may not be not so clear cut – consider these scenarios and give the answer that best fits your own opinion.
